American soldiers have augmented reality glasses type Google Glass, specially designed for combat conditions . The device, called ARC4, allow commanders to broadcast information to the attention of a fighter.
According to British newspaper Daily Mail, the gadget is attached to a military helmet and can be integrated with the control system arms. The system, which was developed by Applied Research Associates (ARA), is part of a six-year project, which sponsors the Advanced Research Projects Agency in the field of Defense (DARPA).
Instead of paper cards in the hands or two-dimensional digital map displayed on the screen of laptop computer, a soldier sees a virtual icons that indicate, for example, travel notes, Allied forces or the enemy. Information is superimposed over the image of the real world.
According to ARA, Augmented Reality fighter raises awareness about the environment and improves its security, the reaction rate and the overall coordination of all team members. In this ARC4 can be used not only in the military sphere, but also in logistics.
Information is displayed on a special display that is attached to a helmet or glasses standard augmented reality. The device monitors the direction of movement and perspective of the user and adapts the image to these conditions.
The creators say the device that will change the way ARC4 interaction with the outside world as well as the smartphone has changed the way people communicate.
