Modern screens on mobile devices are only able to display a picture and perceive sensory depression. However, thanks to researchers from the Polytechnic University in Montreal mobile screens can get a completely new functions.
The technology is in the incorporation of special sensors on top of the glass Corning Gorilla Glass , which is used in many mobile gadgets to protect the screen from damage and scratches. The technology works by embedding a display of optical waveguides, the resource Engadget.
With this structure, the display gets some additional features, while maintaining transparency scores and sensitivity to depression. Modified screen is able to record their temperature and some other indicators, with the ability to track changes in light. The manufacturer may be written in the memory of the device a unique optical image, which can occur due to device identification.
This technology will improve the level of protection of today's mobile devices. Optical image is very difficult to forge, thus the manufacturer can protect the data stored in the device.
Currently the company Corning not voiced any plans to introduce this technology in future versions of the protective glass Gorilla Glass.
